Hi all,

Have few things to be discussed here. Gg to be a long post... Pls ensure u read through! =)

1) Seating Arrangement of the Band
As all those who turned up for yesterday's practice, the balance of the band was damn off. As in most of the sound was just very noisy. This was due to mainly two reasons:

• Blasting was carried out by most of us, forgetting balance. Must understand that we need to play soft first, get the balance right, listen to each other.. AND NOT to ensure that you stand out and can be heard! Balance doesnt work that way! Listen downwards, get the tuning balance correct and work within your limits. Dont just blast when the music gets dramatic! Let's work on this.


• Seating Arrangement. This has been neglected for sometime and i must apologise for this. Reason for this: I actually hoped to get the more confirmed list of players before doing the seating out. In any case, i have come up with the following, subject to changes after i hear the sound on coming saturday again.

2) QM Matters

• As of next week, I need to get the list of instruments that u all are using. And whether there is a main band user for it. The rationale: Most of us will be meeting at VCH on the concert day itself. Thus, if the instrument that you are using does not have a main band user, we need to bring the instrument ourselves, because main band wouldnt know you were using this instrument that they DIDNT USE.
• As mentioned, i will be printing out a list of instruments for every section. So that next week when you draw your instrument from the store, you will fill up the instrument u are using accordingly.

3) Concert Attire

For males:

• Black black long sleeve, either silver tie (more professional cause its at VCH) or colourful ties (if we were to go more informal)

For females:

• Choice 1: Black pants, black long sleeves/ 3/4 sleeves + scarf on neck
• Choice 2: Black pants, black long sleeves/ 3/4 sleeves + individual section identity (eg, headband, scarf n other accessories)
• Choice 3: Same as guys, black black long sleeve/ 3/4 sleeves +either silver tie (more professional cause its at VCH) or colourful ties (if we were to go more informal)

Pls vote accordingly! This issue will be under Amanda's concern.

4) Ticketing

Please please please push for the ticket sales. 1+ month to concert only! As mentioned before, everybody is encouraged to make use of the official advert that is the top most post in this blog. After all, that was the objective of it. For easy posting, convenience to details and all. If you have friends in other bands, pls post it there as well!

5) Practice on 1st March 2008

The next practice is on the 1st Mar. For woodwinds, pls come at 9am sharp for sectionals! For brasses, pls come at 10am. But brasses are encouraged to come too at 9am. Esp the weaker sections that need practice. Wont mention which haha. =P

Haha, it gets rather irritating when you blog about the same old stuff every wednesday.

ANYWAY. The next prac will be on the 23rd Feb 08. Happens to be the 10th alumni prac we are having. Not much time left so pls pls pls turn up.
Time and venue remains the same.

And yes, we will need more alto sax, trumpet and percussion players to turn up. Get more alumnus pls. Don't ask me how haha, u all should know your own section members better than me! Ask them back pls! Trust me, it can be done.

Today's 初七 of CNY, so happy bdae to everybody!

Please be reminded that practices will resume this coming Saturday, on the 16th Feb 08, from 9am onwards. Woodwind players esp! Please do not be late!

Also, for those who have collected your alumni band Tshirt, pls wear them to practice this Saturday. For those who havent, kindly collect them this Saturday!

Ticket Info! IMPT

Repeat of the mail sent out, sorry!There is no perforating of the concert ticket, so pls tear neatly or cut. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Things to take note:
Because this year the concert is at VCH, the rules and regulations state that ALL ticket studs will need to be sent to VCH manpower for checking within 7 days of the concert. This includes the audited statement and accounts. This will affect on the amount to be paid for rental of the concert hall. So pls pls pls take care of the tickets! Thank you very much!

Hi all, feels great to know that the band is improving; Jap graf 9 was quite nice. But well, still lots to work on! Hope the T-shirt is nice.

Anyway, no practice coming week, but all alumnus are invited to wenjie's house for gathering. Do turn up!
