The band camp of AMB is from tomorrow till Wednesday as well.

Alumnus are encouraged to return on tue as well to help out with the recruits as Mr. Yea wont be around. The time is from 1 to 5.30 and the Alumni will mainly help out with sectionals.

Good Afternoon,

Alumni Band Practices will be in the Afternoon for the month of Mar, from 1pm to 4pm, from this Saturday onwards.

I wish to take this opportunity to urge all alumnus to return and play with us, because this afternoon pracs were not made available that easily. Arrangements have to be made to cater to those who have Morning CCA / work / committments.
The reason why practices are in the afternoon for only the month of March, is because the school wishes to know if it is feasible/time & money worthy to have the school open on an afternoon for us.

I repeat, if attendance is low, practices might jump back to the morning session, and we will suffer a greater loss of players.

So I appeal to all, pls. Please return to play with us, for just this 3 hours.
Main Band will be having practices in the morning, so there is no worry about Mr. Lim coming late. Practices will commence on time as far as possible.

IMPT APPEAL

Good Afternoon all,

AMBience 7 is on 29 May, both Mr Yea & Mr Lim have emphasized that this is an Alumni concert. From e low turnout, I believe it imperative to appeal to all on coming back to play with us. My Exco have paid the hefty sum to book VCH as we believe alumnus still have AMB in our heart. 

This concert is for the Alumni & it is not abt having enough players but abt fulfilling a dream after many years of continued hard work. AMBience is an annual event when we can get together and make music like e happy yesteryears. 

I understand that we might have our own busy schedules and commitments, but i sincerely hope that we don’t miss this year especially when this is an Alumni concert & the 40th Anniversary of AMB. It is not how there is always someone else who can play; lets throw that thinking  away. 

Mar's practices will be in the afternoon to accommodate ppl who have CCA in the morning. As for Uni students, we understand exams will end in Apr. This will give us at least 5 pracs bebfore the concert. 

I want alumnus to understand that it is ok if you are only able to join us for a few practices, because even joining the last few practices will suffice.  

Lastly, I hope AMB was never a chore to you and us but a place we proudly call our own. I hope even after years of graduation, be it on stage on in the audience, we are still proud of this band, of how she has nurtured and given us some much joy.

Good Evening All,

There will be NO Alumni practice this coming Saturday, as the Main Band will be using the instruments.

They will be having a sound check at Singapore Conference Hall and will report at school at 8.30am. Their time slot is from 10.30 onwards.

After the soundcheck, they will proceed to Yuying Secondary School (Near Kovan) for a music exchange. Alumni members are encouraged to help out for the event as they require people to help them record and take photos of their band setup.

Practices will resume on the following Saturday, 7th Feb.

The following are some pointers that the library officers of the Alumni would like you to know:

1. To convenience accounting, Alumni members are not allowed to borrow any library score or files home.
2. In the event that members require personal copies, members can order a set from the library latest by Wednesday, of which they will receive it on the Saturday of the same week.
3. Members are allowed to collect the scores personally on week days in Anderson if needed, but notification in advance is appreciated.
4. Photocopying of scores is at 5cents per page.
5. Files are not allowed to be accessed without prior consent from the library officers. If need be, members can approach lydia from the Main Band on weekdays.
6. Feel free to appraoach any library officers if there are not enough scores for the section.

AMBience VII Update

Good Morning all,

AMBience VII will be on the 29th May 2009 Friday at 7.30pm. Venue will be the Victoria Concert Hall.

As 2009 will be a SYF year for the Main Band, the conductors/teachers have decided that the emphasis of AMBience 7 will be on the Alumni Band.
This would mean that the roles between the Main Band and the Alumni Band will be switched. Alumni Band will be fully in charge of planning and organising concert, will have more pieces in concert and Main Band will be on a 'supporting role', playing 3 pieces only.

However, this will also mean that the cost of booking VCH will fall on the Alumni.
Question: Why would we want to foot this bill?
In previous AMBience concerts, the Alumni has always played a supporting role in concert but has never received any share of the revenue from concert, since the school is the one managing the funds. However, in this case where the Alumni Band will control fund management, a considerable amount of the revenue will go to Alumni Band (minus off booking fees, miscellaneous fees). We hope you realise funds are crucial to the growth and survival of the Alumni. Ultimately, we want our members not to be paying for every bill that comes along, like in AMBience 6, the paying for the video, for the ticket printing and all.


As such, we require members to come up with sums of money to help finance the current VCH booking fee (S$1800)
We advise the following:

• On personal basis, if you are able to come up with at least $50 (round numbers appreciated) and above, we appreciate that you can come forth and LOAN this money to the Alumni fund first.
• Members who are younger, can form internal groups on their own accord and come up with a sum of money, again round numbers appreciated. End day, we will pass the money back to the group leader and settle the loan internally. This is to avoid micro management of funds.
  

Important point to note: This is a Loan to the Alumni, NOT a donation. Loans which will be properly documentated and recorded, will be repaid using the revenue generated in AMBience 7.

Please inform me/Amanda/Gary if you wish to make a loan and help us gather the fund for VCH.

The Performance is coming Saturday 6th Dec, at Orchid Country Club. Members are expected to come for a last rehearsal in Anderson on the day itself at 3pm (tentatively) before taking the chartered bus over to the country club.

Please try to turn up for this event! The Alumni will be paid for this event actually, so do help out! Its only a few hours of your time and the pieces are not difficult at all!

Updates on the 'Together' Concert:

1) There are issues with the level of participation that the Alumni Band can provide. Most of the key players will be involved in prep for exams or the starting of Uni.
2) Mr. yea prefers that the Alumni not be involved as the objective of the 'Together' Concert is different from that of AMBience. Emphasis should be given to that of recruits joining the Main Band, a sign of maturity and acceptance into the Main Band. Alumnus are preferred to provide logistics support instead. However, this requires further direction and clarification from Mr. lim. This would also explain why no practices are carried out yet.

Will clarify and let members know if there are practices.
